Ares es un Portador de 19 años que lucha por pagar el precio de su deseo de devolverle la vida a su novia, Lyla. Se comprometió a traer cien almas de otros Portadores a los Otorgantes, seres con el poder de conceder cualquier deseo a cambio de un precio equivalente. Al igual que cualquier otro Portador, el alma de Ares fue separada de su cuerpo y se alojó en una gema en su espada, Black Reaper, y se condenó a una vida de secretismo y asesinato. Ares is a 19-year-old Wielder, fighting to pay the price of his wish to bring her girlfriend, Lyla, back to life. He vowed to bring a hundred Wielder souls to the Granters, genie-like beings with the power to grant any wish in exchange for a equivalent price.
Like any other Wielder, Ares got his soul separated from his body and lodged into a gem in his sword, Black Reaper, and condemed to a life of secrecy and murder. A single rule to follow: no mortal can know Wielders exist. The penalty for failing to follow the rule is death at the hands of the Agents, The Granter's secret service.
Things change when Shannon, an overhelmingly powerful Wielder full of secrets and suspicious motives, offers Ares the one thing he desires: the certainty of getting Lyla back from the Wielders, in exchange of nothing more than his help to kill the Granters.
But the more time Ares spends with Shannon, things between both of them and the inhabitants of the City will take turns and twists in evey inimaginable direction.
